I’m proud to share that Tri-State Training, LLC has been certified as a West Virginia Certified Veteran-Owned Business by the WV Secretary of State.
I served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman for six and a half years. That’s where I learned the value of discipline, accountability, and a serious commitment to safety, and those principles still shape every class I teach, from a first lesson for a new shooter to coaching for experienced competitors.
So what does the certification mean? The Certified Veteran Owned Business program verifies that a West Virginia business is at least 51% owned by an honorably discharged U.S. military veteran or their spouse. The Secretary of State’s Business Division reviews each application and confirms veteran status before approving it, so the designation is a verified credential rather than a self-described title.
The program is brand new. It was created by HB 5227, took effect July 1, and made West Virginia the 15th state to launch such a program. I’m glad to be among the first businesses recognized.
You can find my credentials, including my NRA pistol instructor certification and Level II pistol and rifle coaching, on the Meet Your Instructor page. If you’re a veteran who owns a business in West Virginia, I encourage you to look into the program at sos.wv.gov/WVCVOB.
