Obtaining your WV concealed carry permit

  1. Take a Basic Pistol Course.  We offer that course for $110.
  2. Complete the WV Concealed Carry Application but DO NOT sign it.
  3. Go to the Sheriff’s Office in your County and turn in the application.
  4. Ensure you have your driver’s license with your correct address on it, your Social Security card, course completion certificate, and a check or money order for $50.  Non-Residents have to pay $100.
  5. They will notarize the form, make copies of your information and return the originals.
  6. They will contact you within 45 days for you to return and pick up your permit.
  7. West  Virginia is a Permitless State, which means you DO NOT have to have a permit to carry a firearm if you are 21 or older and legally permitted to possess a handgun.
  8. However, there are some advantages to obtaining your permit.
  9.  Reciprocity.  West Virginia permit is accepted in approximately 37 states.
  10.  No background check when buying firearms.
  11. Tax credit for West Virginia residents when they complete their West Virginia Taxes.
