Doubleheader Weekend: Shoot SIG Speed & GSSF Precision

his past weekend was a true test of versatility, running back-to-back match formats by starting out at Shoot SIG and closing the day on the GSSF bays.

Kicking Things Off at Shoot SIG

The day started under the canopies at Shoot SIG. The match layout demanded rapid visual acquisition, solid throttle control, and immediate cadence shifts across mixed stages.

The paper stage presented targets staggered back into the bay, requiring disciplined pacing to score clean center hits up close without giving away points on the deeper paper.

Transitioning to the steel bay brought a faster rhythm—calling for quick, flat tracking across the white steel plates and locking in on the central blue plate straight from the box.

Closing Out Clean on the GSSF Plate Rack
After completing the Shoot SIG stages, the focus shifted over to GSSF for “GLOCK the Plates.” Moving from dynamic stage flow into fixed steel strings requires a complete mental reset, prioritizing strict visual discipline and recoil management with the G47 in the Amateur Guardian division.

  • Division: Amateur Guardian (G47)
  • Hits: 24 / 24 (0 misses, +0 penalties)
  • String Breakdown:
    • String 1: 6.77s
    • String 2: 5.64s
    • String 3: 6.70s
    • String 4: 7.56s

Finishing with four clean strings and zero penalty time on the plates was the ideal way to wrap up a demanding, high-round-count day.
Weekend Takeaways

Back-to-back matches like this highlight exactly where range time counts:

Consistency: Letting solid grip and trigger fundamentals drive the score from the first stage to the final string.

Mental Reset: Shifting smoothly from the open pace of Shoot SIG to the precision focus of GSSF.

Cadence Control: Knowing when to push the tempo and when to settle the dot for guaranteed hits.

In total I set 3 personal best times out of the seven guns I shot, two in Shoot Sig, P-365 dots, and P-365 Irons, and Amateur Guardian in GSSF. I call that a successful weekend.
